Cultivation

“Une dynamisation” – A method which places an importance on the infusion of plants, which are then spread on the vines.

The “bio-dynamique” cultivation method has its origins in the 1920’s, though was only applied to wine production much, much later. Only from 1980 onwards did some pioneers in France begin to understand the importance of this method of cultivation when applied to viticulture.

What are its principles in brief?
On top of what’s already been mentioned about organic grape production, the main principles of this cultivation technique take into account the solar system and planetary influences.

This method uses compost to feed the plant, as well as herbal teas, decoctions, crystal powder (to support its growth with the light), essential oils and the energised (dynamique) infused plants.

The nurturing and treatments applied are done so, amongst other things, in accordance with the calendar decreed by Marie Thun. This takes into account the position of the moon, sun and other planets.

This cultivation requires an understanding of biotope, which dictates the winegrowers’ actions.

These winegrowers consider that everything is part of everything and all is connected.

Winegrowers who adopt this type of cultivation concentrate on four fundamental areas;
The earth’s relationship with the roots
The water’s relation with the sap, the leaf
The air’s relationship with the flower
And the connection between the heat and the fruit.

As well as observing the placement of the constellations, they also divide them according to the four fundamental elements.

This is why the calendar of Maria Thun is used, as it takes into account the appropriateness of planets, along with the care that they offer to other plants.
